Electrical mains (consumer unit) replacement or upgrade

More and more we hear about electrical house fires, these are usually caused by overloading circuits which causes electrical cables to overheat or by faulty electrical appliances. By upgrading or replacing your existing consumer unit to the latest 18th Edition model this can greatly reduce the risk of a electrical fire. Whilst it will not prevent circuit overload or appliance faults it is designed to recognise overloaded circuits or appliances plugged into those circuits and instantly shuts down the electrical supply before further damage is caused.

Replacement consumer units cost as little as £380.00 this includes materials and fitting. For larger or more complex house wiring installations it may be necessary to upgrade your existing consumer unit by fitting individual trip switches (RCBO’s) to protect individual circuits. Installation of additional sockets

The use of extension leads and double plug adapters is now common in most homes. Let’s face it older wiring installations weren’t designed for todays modern hi tech electrical gadgetry like T.Vs with DVD players, surround sound systems and Wifi routers straighteners toothbrush chargers and so on. The trouble is its so easy to overload an electrical circuit and socket by plugging more and more appliances to the same socket outlet. By installing additional sockets it reduces the load and lessens the risk of cables overheating.

Fitting an outside socket can be very practical when your mowing the lawn or jet washing the patio or even ironing your washing outside on a nice Summers day! So why not consider installing a weatherproof power outlet in your garden, shed or garage. For about £75 a socket they are so convenient and safe to use for all your outside activities.

Installation of electric car chargers

Electric cars are becoming more and more popular and with politics now playing a driving role in encouraging electric car ownership its clear that charging the vehicle from home will become a necessity. Whilst public charging points are points a scarce they are also expensive so it is only practical to refuel at home using cheap domestic electric tariffs when its convenient for you.

Its important to note that electric car charging leads plugged directly into a house wall socket is not recommended because of lengthy charging time and also the unsafe use of extension leads pushed through open windows and doors particularly when its raining!

We recommend a proper charging point be installed outside your property with its own dedicated power source wired straight back to the mains supply along with an internal isolator situated inside your home so you can turn the charger on and off safely. The cost of this type of installation start at around £850.00
